OUR STORY

In 2021,  The Black Door Events turns10 years old...

We love that we make a difference for our clients. We are solid with service orientated, dependable suppliers and as a team, we have complementary strengths that keep us moving forward. We take our work seriously but love to have fun in the process.  Our clients tell us they couldn’t be without us and that’s good because we couldn’t be without them either!

Barbi before co-founding The Black Door events was the Events Manager with the City of Saskatoon at SaskTel Place (major sports arena), TCU Place (preforming arts/convention facility), and Hockey Canada (Manager Operations, 2010 Wr. Jr Hockey Championship) .

Katelyn honed her leadership skills at the U of S and the Pacific Institute.  She has a passion for event design, details, décor, and all things catering. All combined with a can-do attitude to exceed her clients expectations.

The Name.

Where did the Black door events name come from?

Naming our company was hard.  We knew the name was really important and had pages of ideas.  We banged our heads against the wall to come up with a name that captured who we are.  One day Katelyn was painting her front door black.  Her friend said “what about the black door”? Eureka! Our “baby” had a name!

Praise.

Women in Mining & Women in Nuclear Sask

“Women in Mining and Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan Inc. (WIM/WiN-SK) hired The Black Door Events to co-ordinate logistics for our convention in October 2017.  We found Barbi and Katelyn to be responsive, creative, dependable and fun to work with.  Their experience and contacts in the community helped us to achieve excellent financial results and their recommendations and knowledge of the industry has influenced our decisions for upcoming conferences.  We would welcome an opportunity to work with Black Door Events in the future and do not hesitate to suggest them to other clients.”
